Discover Nimbin through the eyes of locals!

Created by locals who love living in Nimbin, this page is our way of giving back to a community that gives so much. We're honored to support its growth and well-being.

Hi, I’m Boshena, the original creator of this site. It’s been a long time in the making—partly because I knew how much effort it would take to build and maintain. It will always be a work in progress, so if you can’t find something, please be patient with us. 😊

My journey to Nimbin is one many locals can relate to. I felt called to come here—almost as if I had no choice. At the time, my husband and I had been living in Italy for over a year while searching for property in Australia. Nimbin wasn’t initially on my radar due to its 'reputation,' but then I saw one particular house… and the rest is history.

Many locals share a similar story—drawn to Nimbin’s energy and discovering they truly belong here.

Nimbin is a vibrant, creative, and active community, but over the years, I found it difficult to keep up with all the events and services because the information was scattered. With my marketing background, I decided to create this website—to bring everything together in one place, making it easy for locals and visitors alike to find what they need.

Greeting lovely people.
I am Nikki and a lot of photographs you see on this site are taken by me.
I am a resident of Nimbin since 2013.
What an experience it has been for me to relocate here!

I have always felt to be an “organic girl”. The village and Nature here felt like an absolute heaven for me and for a year before we bought. I dreamt about living here.
However, having 3 children, I was concerned about drug use in the area and how safe my children would be here.

Until…
I spoke to a local woman who in no uncertain terms told me that people and kids don’t get away with sh%t here”. The community is tight and they watch for one another and if somebody would see my kids misbehaving or somebody trying to hurt them, chances are they would step in and I would immediately know about it.

You might not see it in every day life here, but when a death or a big celebration happens, you see a massive outpouring of love and compassion happening. That is my favourite thing about Nimbin. The Love.

Everybody here is looked after and cherished. Even a half blind, old, homeless dog Bruno, who lived on main street was celebrated and people made sure he never went hungry.

I love the social life here, I never come to town without seeing a familiar face, or two (or 10).

I have been a photographer for a very long time and am in love with “people stories”.  My business is photofables.co.au and I absolutely love photographing people and connecting it to their stories. I see everybody as perfect in their own way.

What I love and appreciate myself for is that I always look on the bright side. Yes, unpleasant things can happen, but there are always two sides of the coin and I choose to see the silver lining in every situration.  I feel very fortunate and very blessed in my life.
